Our hearts and thoughts are with the people of Ukraine with whom we stand in solidarity. The invasion of Ukraine by Russia threatens millions of people who will be forced from their homes in search of refuge.
As we watch on in horror we are reminded how quickly our worlds can change, the terrifying reality of what it means to flee and that no human being chooses to be a refugee.
The UK Government must respond urgently with a plan to welcome Ukrainians who need safety. We also join numerous other charities in urging the government to rethink its Nationality and Borders Bill, which, if passed, would make it considerably harder for refugees like those from Ukraine, alongside all other people seeking asylum, to find safety here in the UK.
