Art Refuge UK reckie to Calais refugee camp

Writer: Art RefugeArt Refuge

17.08.15: Chair of Trustees, Bobby Lloyd and Programme Manager, Sarah Robinson visited art therapist and Medecins du Monde volunteer Naomi Press in the refugee camp referred to by some as the ‘Jungle’, to find out if there was a need for art therapy, therapeutic art and training/support for the refugees and those who support them in the camp in Calais.

Beyond our expectations, our temporary art space filled to capacity with adolescents and men, using it as a safe, quiet and creative place to be.

Art Refuge UK and Medecins du Monde joined in an explorative discussion to set the wheels in motion for an art therapy pilot, with the hope of starting in September 2015. Watch this space!
