THE COMMUNITY TABLE AWAY DAY AT YORKTON WORKSHOPS

Writer's picture: Art RefugeArt Refuge

Saturday September 30, 2023

Brilliant to have the opportunity to come together as a team, with trustees, artists, art therapists…, in person and online, to explore Art Refuge’s model The Community Table that we use across our work to support the mental health and well-being of people who are displaced in northern France and seeking asylum in the UK.

The day was beautifully underpinned by an in-depth presentation from Miriam Usiskin of her doctoral research process and findings on The Community Table model. It felt like a huge privilege to take time and space to think together, share beautiful food prepared by @syrian_sunflower_kitchen in the elegant space that is the gallery @yorktonworkshops in Hackney - thank you for hosting us!

We have come away tired, replenished, and hopefully better equipped to continue our work this Autumn/Winter - Paris - Calais - Folkestone - Brighton - Eastbourne - London - Bristol.
