CIRCLES OF WOMEN

For the second time this year, we were welcomed in to @aidboxcommunity ‘s women’s group, where each session begins and ends with all staff, volunteers and visiting organisations standing together in a circle to hear local news and updates at the start, and to gather thoughts and reflections on the session at the end.

At the larger of two tables, people gravitated towards using Letraset dating from 1976 to transfer their names, messages of hope and celebration on to fluorescent postcards, one being a birthday message that could be shared and passed through the community for whoever had theirs next.

Around an adjacent smaller table, patch repairs and new embellishments were made to the rug base that has visited several locations this year and has received contributions from around thirty children and adults. Many comments were made on the positive nostalgia offered up by the materials - that have travelled many miles - as we watched them being enjoyed five decades after their production.
