FUNDRAISING EXHIBITION, DECEMBER 1-4th

Writer's picture: Art RefugeArt Refuge

We are delighted to introduce you to “WISH YOU WERE HERE” - an Art Refuge fundraising exhibition at Yorkton Workshops in Hackney, East London - December 1-4, 2021.

More than 150 artists from across the UK, Europe, and as far away as Australia, have generously agreed to donate a postcard-sized artwork (6x4 inches) that will be raffled to raise money for our projects in northern France and the UK. Artworks so far received include some well known names - Grayson Perry, Jeremy Deller, Richard Deacon, David Tremlett, Eileen Cooper.

If you are on Instagram, please follow us @artrefuge_wishyouwerehere where you can see some of the beautiful artworks recently received and works in progress!!!

Our work - which builds on people’s capacity to cope with stress, to hold onto imagination, to find resilience through community and connection - has never been more critical, not least in the UK. The hostile environment, which impacts directly and adversely on the mental and physical health of those seeking safety and protection on our shores, is currently looking to get much worse due to the new Nationality and Borders Bill now making its way through parliament.
