Journey into Exile at Essex University

Art works provided by Art Refuge UK were featured as part of a larger ‘Human Rights Festival”, which took place on a sunny day in Wivenhoe Park after the Easter vacations.  As Essex University has a rather large and well-known Human Rights Center, there are quite a few human rights related societies. This festival was organised by the Human Rights Society in collaboration with amongst others the Amnesty International Society, the Poetry Society and Students for a Free Tibet on campus. The aim of the festival was to demonstrate the links between creative art forms and human rights in general. Visitors could sit down and listen to live music or poetry readings or walk around the exhibited artworks, including the drawings by Tibetan refugee children and Latin American art.
