About us
Art Refuge UK is an organisation founded primarily to support the newly arrived refugee children and young people in Nepal and India who have made the arduous journey across the Himalayas from Tibet, in search of an education and a better future. We have a unique role to play in this transition by providing a safe and nurturing space in which children can play and make art, supported by Tibetan facilitators. It is currently funded entirely by donations.
At the heart of Art Refuge UK is the Art Refuge Programme which provides a safe, nurturing environment in which vulnerable children can paint and play supported by Tibetan adult facilitators and volunteers.
Art Refuge UK aims to:
- provide children with a foundation for personal growth
- bear witness to their experiences
- nurture their physical and psychological well-being and self esteem and prepare children for (re)entry to school
